THE ALGAE OF LITTORAL SALT MARSHES OF THE MOLOCHNIY LIMAN LEFT BANK |
Author : YAROVIY S.O., SOLONENKO A.M., YAROVAYA T.A. |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract : Data on algae floristic spectrum of coastal salt marshes of the left bank of Molochny liman were presented. Thealgae diversity was presented by four compartments: Cyanophyta, Chlorophyta, Bacillariophyta, and Xanthophyta. Theregistered algae belong to 15 orders, 20 families, and 27 genera. The Cyanophyta algae were the dominant in exploredsalt marshes, counted 56% from total discovered species. The schematic algae structure of left bank salt marshes ofMolochniy liman was performed, some algae macroscopic accrescences on salt marshes surface were revealed, dominant algae families, dominant and most abundant algae species were defined. |

THE BIOLOGICAL AND SEMINAL PRODUCTIVITY OF HALOPHYTES IN UKRAINIAN PRIAZOV’YA |
Author : PYURKO ?.YE. |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract : The forming mechanism of the biological and seed productivity of halophytes of different ecological groups inUkrainian Priazov’y? was considered. Salinity in all the periods of vegetation was considerably influenced on thegrowth processes as well as biological and seed productivity of the plants. The negative action of salt stress wasextremely high in the middle of the vegetation, when other external factors have maximum effect, the plants werecharacterized by biggest sizes of surface and the important processes of pollination, impregnation, and forming ofseed are determined. The mesophytes were seemed to be the most sensible to the salinity, but the halophytes werealso depended upon this factor. The pattern of plants distribution along the salt gradient was performed: P.lanceolata ® A. santonica ® H. pedunculata ® S. europaea. |

BIRDS SEASONAL FLUCTIATIONS IN SMALL RIVERS’ VALLEYS OF THE SOUTHERN PART OF ZAPOROZHSKAYA REGION |
Author : MATRUHAN T.I. |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract : Role of river valleys in the existence of a large number of bird species is greater than in the breeding period andduring seasonal migrations and movements. Total during the year they recorded 102 bird species, including 62 speciesof breeding period. Feature of the habitat of the valleys of small rivers is the combination in small areas of differenthabitats. This increases the patchiness of zonal steppe landscape, which allows the expansion of areas along the riverbeds of individual species. Flood regime of rivers is the determining factor for the birds: The most diverse speciescomposition and abundance of avifauna of individual species in the high-water seasons. |

WEEVILS OF THE LARINUS GENERA OF ZAPORIZ`KA OBLAST (COLEOPTERA, CURCULIONIDAE) |
Author : VOLOVNIK S.V. |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract : Distribution and ecology of weevils of Larinus were investigated. In the vicinity of Zaporiz`ka oblast (Ukraine)some 9 species were found, namely Larinus adspersus, L. canescens, L. jaceae, L. minutus, L. obtusus, L. planus, L.sturnus, L. turbinatus, L. vulpes. Data on number, distribution, feeding, phenology, breeding, preimaginal developmentand parasites are given for each species. It is suggested that Larinus jaceae, L. ?btusus and L. sturnus could be used forweeds biological control. |

PRINCIPAL FACTORS DETERMINING THE ISLANDS SPATIAL DISTRIBUTION OF COLONIALLY BREEDING LARIDAE |
Author : MATSYURA A. V., MATSYURA M. V. |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract : The analysis of the main factors, which specify the spreading of colonial Laridae to the islands of Azov and BlackSea region, is presented. The influence of the anthropogenic pressure and the interspecific interrelations on the islandbird communities is considered. The basic directions of anthropogenic influence on island birds were determined. Theanalysis of mutual breeding of island birds was performed. |

BIOLOGY OF GADWALL IN THE BARABA STEPPE |
Author : KOSHELEV A.I., DUBOVIK A.D. |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract : In recent decades the number of gray ducks within range of the species has declined sharply, it has been includedin several national Red books, including the Ukrainian one. Restoration of this species is only possible by studying ofthe features of its biology and amendments to the game hunting. The lake forest-steppe part of Western Siberia is stillthe center of the reproduction of gray duck. Reproductive capacity of this species is extremely high. The brood had upto 6-13 eggs, with an average of 8. Early clutches contain on average 9-11, late - 6 eggs. In broods there are 6-11, withan average of 8 chicks. Mixed stack with other species of ducks make up to 2,7%. The breed mortality in different yearswas up to 66,7%, the eggs - up to 20,5%, mortality of nestlings - 30,9%. To restore the population of gray duck huntingreserves it is recommended to conduct the biotechnology activities, to create special conditions for transition to colonialtype of breeding. |

IMPORTANCE OF LANDSCAPE AND HABITAT ISLAND FEATURES FOR THE SUPPORT OF BREEDING BIRDS DIVERSITY |
Author : MATSYURA O. V. |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract : Landscape and biotopic characteristics of some Sivash islands are presented. The principal role of these factors forthe support of the bird species diversity is proved. It is suggested that the islands’ genesis determines the dominantvegetation and the breeding habitats for the birds. Two types of islands – accumulative and continental are considered. |

COMPLEX ESTIMATION OF BIODIVERSITY OF BREEDING WATERFOWL COMMUNITIES OF MOLOCHNY ESTUARY: MODERN STATE AND PROGNOSIS |
Author : KOSHELEV V.?., DUBYNYNA-PAKHUSHCHAYA Y.Y. |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract : On results the long-term researches conducted in 1988-2008 the estimation of dynamics of biodiversity the nestingbirds’ community of Molochny estuary was performed. The breeding birds’ community of reeds, saline lands, sandyislands and spits, arboreal-shrub jungles were estimated. Is is proved that the gulls, terns, cormorants and passerineswere the dominant species during the period of high water. Maximum specific variety was also proved for this timeperiod. In drought seasons of 2001-2010 the water level in estuary went down sharply that had resulted in the decline ofbiodiversity and amount of breeding birds. Negative trend of biodiversity level was discussed. |
